The Face of Anxiety Disorder in Our Modern World.

In a modern, fast-paced world where we face high pressure, hectic schedules and precarious deadlines on a daily basis, the risks of getting caught up in the moment and losing our “sense of self” can be highly plausible. Save for some utterly composed individuals, most people are endlessly finding ways on how to cope with the demands of our modern world. Some, however, would succumb to the call of panicky situations and eventually get too stressed out and suffer anxiety attacks come crunch time. Even with time, there are those who have not fully adapted to their environment and show signs of stress even during unthreatening circumstances. It has become a large part of their lives, and their anxieties last longer, preventing them to function in a normal, calm manner. Such kind of erratic behavior without the presence of threats can be considered as a telltale sign of anxiety disorder.
.

On a more chronic level anxiety disorder is a general term used for different types of behavioral disorders that affects people. When a person is subjected to different kinds of stress, anxiety can be largely evident normally. As the cause or threat is removed from the picture this normal kind of stress slowly diminishes. For a person with anxiety disorder, such stress and panic attacks, even without reason, could last for about 6 months to a year however.

The presence of anxiety disorder in a person can be identified through four general characteristics:
· physical symptoms,
· physical tension,
· mental apprehension and
· a strong altered state of consciousness.

Anxiety disorder could also be classified according to major types, namely:
· General Anxiety Disorder
· Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
· Panic Disorder
· Post-Traumatic Disorder
· Social Phobia

Because anxiety disorder is a multi-faceted disorder, the signs and symptoms that each person characterizes are vastly different. People with general anxiety disorder often feel panicky, and generally stressed due to unknown threats. They always feel threatened or worried by different concerns, unsuccessfully detecting which one is the main trigger.

Show up when the person feels frightful or in the face of imminent threat panic disorders, on the other hand. Different kinds of physical tension such as hyperventilation, heart palpitation, dizziness, aggravated trembling, excessive sweating, and chest pains people with panic disorders.

In general, the different kinds of anxiety disorder poses exaggerated reactions of the body to the things and events that make them anxious. Aside from those mentioned above, other tell-tale signs that a person might be suffering from anxiety disorder could be exhibited through deteriorating changes in their physical appearance, a detached sense of reality followed by long bouts of depression, and some might even turn to substance and alcohol abuse, hoping that these will eliminate their anxieties, or mask them off at the very least. The last one mentioned is actually one of the most dangerous signs of anxiety disorder, as such actions will not only put their health to risk, alcohol and drugs aggravate anxiety disorder, as well.

Should immediately consult a doctor when people who suspect that they know someone or are probable candidates of anxiety disorder themselves. Then these can pose more harmful threats to the person and to those around them it may seem at first that panic attacks and bouts of anxiety are common reactions to stressful events, but if these symptoms are not treated.

In the years to come the modern world will continue to become more demanding and cutthroat. To not only adapt to their environment it is therefore the duty of individual. Little steps that people can incorporate in their daily lives by preventing the onset of anxiety disorder can still be done through easy:

· taking time to have fun and relaxation for a few minutes each day
· exercising regularly
· eating well-balanced meals
· avoiding too much alcohol intake
· learning how to maintain healthy work-life balance
· learning how to dismiss irrational thoughts
· diminishing petty worries

By incorporating these simple practices, not only can a person help himself from developing anxiety disorder, he will also learn how to function and perform well in his modern, demanding environment in a more positive and objective outlook these tips might sound easier than done.
